Faceted Canister 4

Faceted Canister 4
$115.00
Diameter ~5 inches, Height ~5.5 inches, wall thickness ~.25 inch
A wooden canister for storing tea, coffee, and other dry goods.
These canisters are made by hollowing out a fresh tree limb, then fitting a dry base into the bottom. As the body of the canister shrinks during drying, it closes around the base, making a joined container without any glue or fasteners. A lid is turned to fit, the top carved, and the sides faceted with a Japanese block plane. These canisters are finished with a few coats of Hassui Ceramic—a glass-like finish that preserves the natural wood look.
